A spring update from Sandra, our CEO

karenhollocks

I can’t believe we are already two months into 2025 – but hopefully by now are seeing signs of spring after a wet and windy winter!

There have been a few changes at CCP in the last few months. We are thrilled to announce that our new Volunteer Coordinator post has been filled by the excellent Liz Carter, who has certainly hit the ground running! Liz will be responsible for recruiting and inducting our new volunteers, as well as supporting our amazing existing volunteers. This is a new role for us and we are very grateful to the Talbot Village Trust for providing the funding.

We’re looking forward to getting involved in a variety of activities with Avon Reach Care Home, including them providing the fourth venue for the IDOP Cream Tea on 5 October.  Hopefully, as well as musical entertainment again, from the Funky Little Choir, we can also have displays from the VE Day commemoration that Christchurch Town Council are planning for 8 May.

Another key date for your diaries (particularly if you are a school/youth/children's project) is 20 October, when we are holding the next Christchurch Soup event. This will again be themed around youth/children and promises to be another really fun event.

Our popular Sunday Roasts for 2025 will be held on the last Sunday of the month from February to May, if you know anyone who finds Sunday a difficult day without family locally, they are welcome to join us. We are still looking at what we might do for the summer months as an alternative option.

We are also excited to be selected as one of the two Charity Partners for the 2025 Christchurch Carnival, from 15-17 August. Hopefully we can come up with some creative ideas to participate in the parade too!

Thanks for reading – please do get in touch if you would like to know more about any of our events. You can find out how to contact us here.
